Plan for Saturday 17 October: Wattamolla Coastal Walk & Picnic (Royal National Park)
Meeting point: Wattamolla Picnic Area (search for it in Google Maps). It’s about a 51-minute drive from Wollongong.
Time: Meeting time: 11 am
Weather: 21 degrees and overcast expected
The walk: The Wattamolla Beach to Curracurrong Falls route is an easy 4 km (one-way) section of the Royal National Park Coast Track. Recent upgrades mean it’s now almost entirely a coastal boardwalk, and it’s the most scenic and popular way to reach Eagle Rock and Curracurrong Falls. The track starts at Wattamolla Beach, with a clear trail leaving from the Wattamolla car park.
Safety: The lookouts are unfenced, so please stay well back from the cliff edges.
Facilities: The picnic area has flush toilets, shaded picnic tables and free gas/electric barbecues.
What to bring:
Walking shoes
Warm layers
Backpack
Water
Packed picnic lunch
Sunscreen
Hat and sunglasses
